General Inside Diameter Tolerances
| Nominal Inside Diameter | General ID Tolerance |
|---|---|
| 0.5–1.99 mm | ±0.10 mm |
| 2.0–3.99 mm | ±0.15 mm |
| 4.0–5.99 mm | ±0.20 mm |
| 6.0–10.99 mm | ±0.25 mm |
| 11.0–13.99 mm | ±0.30 mm |
| 14.0–17.99 mm | ±0.35 mm |
| 18.0–25.00 mm | ±0.40 mm |
These values are general manufacturing references. Final tolerances depend on ID, OD, wall thickness, resin grade, production quantity and inspection method.
Metric and Imperial PTFE Tubing
JIAFUXIN can manufacture PTFE tubing according to metric or imperial dimensions.
Common imperial outside diameters include:
- 1/16 inch
- 1/8 inch
- 3/16 inch
- 1/4 inch
- 5/16 inch
- 3/8 inch
- 1/2 inch
- 5/8 inch
- 3/4 inch
- 1 inch
Imperial tubing should be specified using the complete ID × OD combination. A nominal size such as “1/4-inch tubing” is not sufficient because it may refer to the inside diameter or outside diameter.
Main Features
- Broad chemical resistance
- Smooth internal flow path
- Low surface friction
- Low moisture absorption
- Electrical insulation
- Non-stick surface
- Metric and imperial dimensions
- Coiled or cut-length supply
- Custom ID, OD and wall thickness
- Suitable for flaring and connection assembly
Typical Applications
Extruded PTFE tubing is commonly used in:
- Chemical fluid transfer
- Laboratory instruments
- Analytical equipment
- Sampling lines
- Electrical wire insulation
- Cable protection
- Gas handling equipment
- Paint and coating systems
- Food-processing equipment
- Pharmaceutical equipment
- Industrial pumps and valves
- Chemical dosing systems
- Corrosive fluid lines
- OEM equipment assemblies
Application suitability must be evaluated using the actual chemical, concentration, temperature, pressure, connection design and required service life.
Extruded PTFE Tubing for Chemical Transfer
PTFE resists many acids, alkalis, solvents and corrosive chemicals. Its smooth internal surface also helps reduce material buildup in fluid-transfer lines.
Chemical compatibility alone does not determine suitability. Buyers should also consider:
- Chemical concentration
- Continuous operating temperature
- Working pressure
- Pressure cycling
- Fluid permeability
- Required cleanliness
- Fitting and connection method
PTFE Tubing for Electrical Insulation
PTFE tubing can be used as insulating sleeving around wires, leads, sensors and electrical components exposed to elevated temperatures or chemicals.
The required tubing size should be selected around:
- Wire or cable outside diameter
- Required wall thickness
- Dielectric requirement
- Installation clearance
- Bend radius
- Operating temperature
Tubing intended to slide over a wire should include sufficient ID clearance for installation.
Coil, Spool and Cut-Length Supply
Coiled PTFE Tubing
Common coil lengths include:
- 10 m
- 25 m
- 50 m
- 100 m
Maximum continuous length depends on the tubing diameter, wall thickness and packaging method.
Spooled PTFE Tubing
Small and medium tubing can be supplied on spools when controlled winding, cleaner handling or continuous feeding is required.
Cut PTFE Tubing
Tubing can be cut into specified lengths for OEM assembly and repeat production. Common straight lengths include 1, 2 and 3 m.
Short precision-cut sections can also be reviewed according to the required length tolerance and quantity.
Connection and Secondary Processing
Available processing can include:
- Cutting to specified length
- End flaring
- Thermal forming
- End expansion
- Custom coiling
- Surface printing
- Color identification
- Assembly with specified fittings
- Custom packaging and labeling
Connection design should be confirmed before selecting the tubing OD and wall thickness. Compression, flare and insert fittings may require different dimensional controls.
